Are there any decent scythe builds left?
Are there any decent scythe builds left?
I have a number of scythes that are customized to my ranger, are they worthless now or are there still any good options?
Cheers

Less worthless than your bows if it's any consolation.
2 5e enchants, wounding strike, scavenger's strike, pet stuff seems to work OK. Reaper's Sweep with a similar build if you like them knockdowns.

don't forget about melonni and your other derv heroes! At least they can have cool gear now ![Big Grin](../../Img/biggrin.gif)
As for your ranger... Daggers are great, much better than scythe was IMO, unless you had ludicrous faction rank for AoHM. Jagged, Fox, Blossom with 14 expertise & zealous daggers is very decent single target & AoE armor ignoring damage.
That or a channeling staff... Sigh...

You can still run a scythe/pet build for some DPS, though only "advantage" over D/R is the higher use of pet skills (better e manage), etc.
Scythe: 12
BM: 10+1
Exp: 8+1+1
Crippling Victory
Reap Impurities
Chilling Victory
Never Rampage Alone
Enraged Lunge
Scavenger Strike
Call of Protection
Comfort Animal

Maybe
Vow of Strength + Ebon Battle Standard of Honor
Dwarven Stability + Lightning Reflexes
---- +
100 DPS while autoattacking
VoS + EBSoH is murder, with the 33% IAS more so (Could try pet + NRA for IAS). Add Aura of Thorns for melee-crowd management, Mystic Sandstorm for nearby AoE (stacks with EBSoH), Conviction or Armor of Sanctity for defense. Let someone put SoH and Splinter weapon on ya to top it off.

wouldn't mystic sandstorm cause scatter though? i mean, if you couldn't lock them in and spike them down in 2-3 hits.

That's possible. I just thought that up and checked how everything stacks with EBSoH. I must admit that I haven't done any real fieldtesting. Still, if everyone keeps there distance the cripple should help to keep them focussed on you.
I'll try a bit and see how it works. If anyone has some good idea's for the free slots?

Mystic sandstorm rarely seems worth the cast time, even with the ebon ward up. Better off to keep attacking in my opinion.
Personally I'd throw a pet onto VoS build, easy IAS and more random barbs/vanguard triggers. (You really ought to consider barbs/mop with that build...)

Yeah, NRA is a good option, it's easier to use then DS+LR and I always used it in scythe builds, but now there's an additional attribute used for VoS.

VoS is indeed a very strong elite, especially when paired up with MoP.
Here's an idea for a build.
I don't think Expertise is needed any longer for R/Ds considering attacks require andrenal and enchantments are unaffected by it, unless you really want to take LR+DS. I also took Radiant Scythe over Scavenger's because I don't really trust my pet to hit the right target. Shouldn't be any energy problems if using a zealous scythe (replace Reap Impurities with Zealous Sweep if there are).

ranger derv with a scythe is still good if your smart enough to make the build work for yourself. i also use ranger derv in gvg. i was able to own the avatar of grenths before they fixed it back down.
